    • Managing Fear

Posted at 7:37 PM by Krista Gorman, PA-C, on July 31, 2020

Let’s take a look at one scenario. Come up with a specific fear you have. Feel it through, in your body. Notice how your body feels when your mind imagines this hypothetical situation. Does your stomach turn or have butterflies? Does your breathing become a bit faster? Do you feel blood rushing to your head? Does it feel good or not so good?

What is fear? Let’s unpackage it a bit….

Fear is not just one thing. Fear is a constellation of multiple dynamic energies all working at once. Some work together, some seemingly alone, but all end up influencing the outcome.

When we are in a state of fear, not only is our body responding physiologically to the hormones being released in a fight-or-flight response to the autonomic nervous system stimulation from our interpretation of the thoughts we are having in that moment, but once the physiologic response happens it sort of loops back in a type of reflex for more thoughts on the same subject. We almost get carried away on the wings of the thoughts. We loose control.

How do we get some of that control back? Through focusing our attention on what we want to be rather than what we don’t want to be, i.e. whatever our fear is, we imagine the opposite. Use that creative mind power to envision something better.

Talk yourself down from it. Remind yourself that you are a powerful creator and can create or uncreate anything you choose to place your focus on. Don’t chastise yourself or be mean to yourself if you have to keep doing it because it will get easier and easier as you go along. It takes a dedication of your energy to continually go back and refocus, but the outcome is so worth it! The outcome of a better feeling, even for just a few moments. The outcome of what you desire to happen rather than what you don’t desire to happen, or maybe something close to it. Try it. You’ll see.

Tell yourself that all is well, that everything is working out for you and everyone involved. That it’s working out even when others observe it and say the opposite. You can believe differently.

Write affirmations about whatever subject you are fearful about and put them in your pocket. Pull them out and remind yourself of how powerful you are at creating what you desire to experience rather than what you don’t desire. I put them on my bathroom mirror, in my car, on the fridge, in my scrub pocket. Anywhere you are inspired to where you know you’ll see them and be re-minded of what you desire. This helps so much to refocus the mind and bodies’ energy on what we want.

If the fear creeps back in, repeat all of the above. Over and over. Until you no longer require it. Have faith until you have experience, then there is no need for faith.

      Much Love!! xoxo

    • The Power Of Intention

Posted at 7:15 AM by Krista Gorman, PA-C, on February 20, 2015

I’ve been focusing my thoughts around this topic a lot lately, but not really intentionally lol.  It’s just sort of there and I’m paying attention to it.  I suppose it’s partly because of my desire to move forward in my life and the fact that I feel like the  things I want are taking too long to manifest….Patience….

The overarching reason for my being is to be of service to myself and others.  Within that are little desires, like loving and healthy relationships, good health, financial security, being surrounded by the beauty of nature, etc.  All of these, I believe, will help bring a greater richness to life on top of what I will receive through the work I do directly with people.  The energetic exchange between us can be so moving and so fulfilling and so very life-vivifying.  I’d like to have as many of those exchanges as possible while helping to relieve suffering through sharing my story and what I’ve learned.

Today, I intend to focus my energy on love, healing and joy and have faith all that I desire is manifesting as I’m doing it.

The Twelve Principles in practice….they are what I’m using through Intention to create my life today.

      Much Love xox

    • The Power Of Yes

Posted at 8:36 AM by Krista Gorman, PA-C, on December 3, 2014

Growing up I heard “No” so many times I thought that was the usual way to respond to things.  Negativity in my family was not intentional, simply perpetual.  My parents had simply carried over their own childhood beliefs and ways of viewing the world without scrutiny and without awareness.

As I grew into adulthood and began to notice the difference between my usual fall-back response and that of others, as I became more aware it wasn’t exactly the norm, I also became (here it is…) aware I had a choice.  I could either say “No” to life or “Yes” to life.

I started with myself.  I’d always been someone who enjoyed helping others, often sacrificing my own needs in the process.  When I started putting my needs first with the intention of also serving others, things began to flow easier.  I began to say “Yes” more frequently to myself and big changes came with that.

I graduated college after much initial struggle.  I moved across the country to experience life in a different way.  I decided to go into medicine, and have been practicing it for the last 14 years.  All because I said “Yes” to myself and to life.

Now, I am saying “Yes” to you.  I returned after a near death experience to kick my service to others up a notch.  I came back to be an inspiration and support for those who struggle in life.  I am a student and a teacher, as we all are.  The only difference between any two people are levels of awareness and experience.  We can help elevate one another, all we need to do is say “YES!”

      Love to All!!
